Nie Jiapeng

Jiapeng Nie, from the Xinghai Conservatory of Music and the School of Music at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), is the director of the Shenzhen Cello Association and the vice president of the Shenzhen Young Musicians Association. He is the first recipient of the “Schoenfeld Distinguished Young Chinese String Performer Award” and has received the China National Arts Fund Young Talent Project.

At the age of 16, Nie was exceptionally admitted with a full scholarship to the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music at the National University of Singapore, where he studied with the renowned cellist Qin Liwei. At 20, he won a full scholarship to continue his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg in Germany, where he trained under the world-renowned cello master Arto Noras. At 26, thanks to his collaboration with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra and an impeccable performance evaluation, he achieved the highest performance degree in Germany: the Konzertexamen.

Recognized as one of the most active and influential cellists in China, his career has led him to important international musical stages, gaining acclaim both at home and abroad.
