Marc Paquin

Principal Second Violin in the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, he is also a luthier.

He taught chamber music at the Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music in London for two years and was a professor at the Conservatory of La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland). Between 2003 and 2007, he served as concertmaster of the Aargauer Symphonie Orchester in Switzerland.

At the age of ten, he gave his first solo concert at the Patiño Hall in Geneva. Since then, he has regularly performed as a soloist with the Basel Symphony Orchestra, the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, the Aargauer Symphonie Orchester, the Orchestre du Festival du Jura, and the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada. His repertoire includes concertos by Bach, Vivaldi, Lalo, Shostakovich, Sibelius, Beethoven, Sarasate, Saint-Saëns, and Mozart’s *Sinfonia Concertante*, earning excellent reviews for his performances.

A native of Switzerland, he studied with Judith Berenson, Raphaël Oleg in Basel, and Stefan Muhmenthaler. Between 1996 and 2000, he trained with Detlef Hahn at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. His chamber music education was guided by masters such as the Amadeus Quartet, the Takács Quartet, the Vellinger Quartet, the Melos Quartet, the Trio di Milano, and Sir Colin Davis.

He has recorded for Espace 2 and DRS2 radio (Switzerland), BBC2 in London, TVE2 in Spain, as well as two CDs for the Danish label Classico, one for Naxos, and three for IBS.

He has won First Prize at the Swiss Young Musicians Competition, First Prize at the *Rovere d’Oro* International Competition in Italy, First Prize at the *Concerto Competition* organized by the Eastern Music Festival in the United States, and First Prize at the Dorothy Adams Competition, awarded by the Takács Quartet.
