Juan Salvador Raya is an emerging Spanish violin professor who began an intense teaching career in Germany. Since his return in 2020 as a professor in his native Granada and in Madrid at “Katarina Gurska” School of Music, his students have won prizes both in national competitions and in the German National Youth Music Competition and have been invited to prestigious schools by personalities such as concertmasters of the Gewandhaus and members of the Berlin Philharmonic.
After being invited as assistant concertmaster with artists such as Sabine Meyer, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, Gerhard Schulz/Alban Berg Quartet, in halls such as Philharmonie Berlin, as a soloist in Auditorio Nacional and in chamber music with Alexander Vitlin (assistant to D. Barenboim), Juan Salvador had the chance to start an orchestral activity in the first violins of the Stuttgart Philharmonic. However, his love for pedagogy led him to take up a teaching position in the German city of Jena. Today, some of his pupils from this period are prizewinners of the German National Youth Music Competition and continue to receive lessons in Madrid.
2022/2023 include invitations to masterclasses at Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg, Musikhochschule Münster, Forum Musikae Madrid, etc. He is also invited to take part in juries such as the German Federal Competition for Young Musicians or the Katarina Gurska Scholarship and leads “Solistas Manuel de Falla”.
