Recognized by the musical critique as one of the most distinguished violinists of his generation, Alfredo García Serrano (León, 1971) enjoys nowadays an intense career both as a pedagogue and as a performer. His artistry is well known in countries all around the world such as Japan, Korea, Turkey, Italy, Poland, Austria, France, Portugal, EEUU, Mexico, Argentina , Spain, among others.
He began his musical studies in Spain under the guardianship of the teachers Antonio Arias and Victor Martin. He got the scholarship of the Culture Ministery and the Commission Fulbright. He continued his studies in EEUU at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, obtaining a Performer Diploma and a Master´s degree in Violin, achieving the highest scores in all fields. He worked as a teaching assistant to Mauricio Fuk for almost four years in the above mentioned Jacobs School of Music.
He was awarded the 1st Prize at the prestigious Pablo Sarasate Spanish Competition (1993) and was the First Classified at the National Contest “City of Soria” (1998).
He has been a member of renowned orchestras such as the Spanish National Orchestra for two years being the first of his promotion. He collaborates with important orchestras of the national scene such as the Orchestra Reina Sofía, Chamber Orchestra of Madrid, etc.
Maestro García is regulary invited to give masterclasses, seminars and conferences. He often takes part on juries of various national and international contests, as well as in International Music Festivals, being the Summer course at the Mozarteum in Salzburgo his first appearance in Europa as Mauricio Fuks´assistant.
He has premiered and recorded numerous works for violin and viola by spanish contemporary composers, for VERSO label and R.N.E.
His students have joined the best professional orchestras in Spain, such as ONE and RTVE, as well as the most prestigious schools and universities in the world, such as the Escuela Reina Sofía (Spain), UDK Berlin (Germany), Royal Academy of Music in London (UK), Boston New England Conservatory, Indiana University (USA), among others.
Since 1996, he has been a member of the Music and Performing Arts Faculty. He currently holds a position as professor at the Professional Conservatory of Music in Amaniel and in Musical Arts (Madrid). He is regularly invited to teach at the IvanGalamian International Academy in Malaga. He has been professor of violin and chamber music at the University Alfonso X El Sabio in Madrid for six years (2013-2019)
